June 2022 Consolidation Update

The OJCC office consolidation process is proceeding. As the new year approaches (fiscal 2023 begins July 1, 2022), work will begin in earnest on planning the consolidation of Gainesville (GNS). In preparation for that, the case volumes and population have been re-examined and Marion County (originally planned for transition to District ORL) will instead consolidate into District JAX. In addition, Flagler County will transition into District JAX. For the history buffs in the workers' compensation community, a very few will recall that Flagler County was part of (then District "C") Jacksonville until about 1992. Thus, the list of still pending dates is now as follows:

Pending Effective Dates

Cessation of operations in Gainesville (GNS)

Marion County from GNS to JAX ("target")

Columbia County from GNS to JAX ("target")

Alachua County from GNS to JAX ("target")

Flagler County from DAY to JAX ("target")

The Florida OJCC is evolving yet again, this time as regards appellate records. The accounting surrounding the preparation of a record on appeal has been a challenging process. And, there have been many over the years that have asked "why can't I use a credit card." The day has finally come when that is possible. That process will be available for many payments on March 1, 2023.  Appellants should keep in mind that there are generally three payments to be made when an appeal is undertaken. The first is the filing fee that is due to the Florida First District. The second is  the cost of the transcript of proceedings which is no longer ever prepared by the team at the OJCC (outside designated transcriptionist). The third  is the cost for the preparation of the record itself (compilation of the transcript, the exhibits, etc.).  The new credit card process we are rolling out now applies only to the third element (payment to DOAH). eJCC Changes April 1, 2024

 April 1, 2024 is right around the corner! No "April Fools," changes are coming to the Office of Judges of Compensation Claims interface platforms. The main changes are in eJCC. Take notes, there will be some adaptation needed. The basic interface appearance is changing to accommodate the volume of topics and alternatives. Look for changes. The main screen today looks like But on Monday, it will look like When you hover your mouse over the ones with arrows, like "case" you will get an expanded menu as pictured. This should help with viewing on smaller screens.  We are providing you (the filer) the opportunity to expedite the processing of some motions. An example is settlements. When you upload a  Motion for Approval of Attorney's Fees and Child Support, you will have the option to input the data from your documents. This will speed up the process in our office in many cases. Watch for this change to evolve into a necessity one day. But, for now, it is an option
